Last night of extreme cold for Manitoba

Tonight should be the last night (for now) of this prolonged stretch of extremely cold temperatures for parts of Manitoba. We will talk about why in a later post. However, residents of Manitoba will have to endure another very cold night.

Warnings

3:40 PM CST Sunday 20 January 2019 Extreme Cold Warning in effect for (areas in red):

A prolonged period of very cold wind chills is expected. Extreme cold continues to affect parts of southern Manitoba. Lingering cold temperatures and strengthening southeasterly winds will see wind chill values near -40 redevelop this evening. Warmer temperatures will move into the area Monday. Risks are greater for young children, older adults, people with chronic illnesses, people working or exercising outdoors, and those without proper shelter. Watch for cold related symptoms: shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes. If it's too cold for you to stay outside, it's too cold for your pet to stay outside.
