Funnel cloud prompts tornado warning for Saskatchewan

5:33 PM CST Monday 02 September 2019 Tornado warning in effect for:

  • R.M. of Edenwold including Balgonie and Piapot Res.

  • R.M. of Lumsden including Lumsden Regina Beach and Craven

Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado. At 5:30 PM CST the public reported a funnel cloud near Lumsden. This severe thunderstorm is moving toward the southeast at 40 km/h.

In addition to a tornado, this severe thunderstorm also has the potential to produce quarter-sized hail and wind gusts in excess of 90 km/h. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. If you hear a roaring sound or see a funnel cloud, swirling debris near the ground, flying debris, or any threatening weather approaching, take shelter immediately.
