Warnings

11:19 AM CST Saturday 07 December 2019 Freezing rain warning in effect for:

  • City of Winnipeg

Freezing rain is expected or occurring.

Freezing rain will spread eastwards along the Trans-Canada Highway corridor today with most areas seeing 1 to 2 hours of freezing rain mixed with snow at times before it tapers off.

Liquid accumulations of 0.5 to 2 mm are likely, with variable amounts of that contributing to ice accumulation based on location and pre-existing surface treatments.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas. Slow down driving in slippery conditions. Watch for taillights ahead and maintain a safe following distance. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions.

Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.

Most roads around the City of Winnipeg are showing as ice covered according to Manitoba 511.
