3:48 PM EST Saturday 05 January 2019 Winter storm watch in effect for (areas in yellow)
A winter storm is expected Sunday overnight into Monday. A developing low pressure system is expected to track over Northwestern Ontario on Monday. Snow with this system will begin Sunday evening and become heavy overnight. Snow will continue for much of the day Monday before ending Monday evening.
Total snowfall amounts of 15 to 25 cm are possible by the time the snow ends Monday evening. Strong southeast winds gusting up to 60 km/h will also develop Monday morning and combine with the freshly fallen snow to produce local blowing snow. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations. Public Safety Canada encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit and a flashlight.
