P.E.I. & Nova Scotia (in red)
Hazardous winter conditions are expected.
A slow moving low pressure system will track across Cape Breton Island tonight and then south of Newfoundland on Tuesday. Periods of light snow mixed at times with rain will change to snow overnight and persist through the day on Tuesday. Total snowfall amounts of 20 to 30 cm are expected. Winds will strengthen out of the northwest Tuesday morning giving reduced visibilities in blowing snow.
Higher than normal water levels and rough pounding surf are expected for north facing coasts on Tuesday. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow.
Winter storm warnings are issued when multiple types of severe winter weather are expected to occur together.
