Watches

1:03 PM CDT Tuesday 04 June 2019 Severe thunderstorm watch in effect for areas in yellow:

Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts and damaging hail.

A low pressure system tracking across southern Manitoba is expected to trigger isolated thunderstorms this afternoon. Some of these thunderstorms may become severe giving large hail, strong winds and heavy downpours. The thunderstorms should exit the area by early evening. Very large hail can damage property, break windows, dent vehicles and cause serious injury. Very strong wind gusts can damage buildings, down trees and blow large vehicles off the road. Locally heavy rain is also possible. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes.

Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall. Persons in or near this area should be on the lookout for adverse weather conditions and take necessary safety precautions. Watch for updated statements.
