Timing: Thursday-Friday
Statements
9:08 PM EST Tuesday 18 December 2018 Special weather statement in effect for:
A slippery Friday in store.
A low pressure system from the Gulf of Mexico will track northward and is expected to affect the province of Quebec beginning Thursday night.
The forecast track of this system will give favourable conditions for a significant freezing rain event. Freezing rain could develop late Thursday evening over Southwestern parts of the province and will likely spread toward central and eastern regions on Friday. The freezing rain will eventually change to rain. Total amounts of freezing precipitation and rain could be significant, but remain uncertain.
Surfaces, such as highways, streets, sidewalks and parking lots, may become icy, slippery and treacherous.
