7:07 PM MDT Friday 02 August 2019 Severe thunderstorm warning in effect for:
City of Edmonton - St. Albert - Sherwood Park
At 7:07 p.m. MDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a dangerous thunderstorm capable of producing damaging wind gusts, up to golf ball size hail and heavy rain.
These thunderstorms are located between Rich Valley and Devon and are moving to the east at 40 km/h. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Very large hail can damage property, break windows, dent vehicles and cause serious injury. Very strong wind gusts can damage buildings, down trees and blow large vehicles off the road. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
