Massive supercell develops near Winnipeg City

2:07 PM CDT Monday 08 July 2019 Severe thunderstorm warning in effect for:

  • City of Winnipeg

At 2:07 p.m. CDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a dangerous thunderstorm capable of producing very strong wind gusts, up to golf ball size hail and heavy rain.

A line of thunderstorms is quickly developing in the Starbuck to Brunkild areas and is moving eastward.

Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Very large hail can damage property, break windows, dent vehicles and cause serious injury. Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!

Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
