A period of very cold wind chills is expected.

Extreme wind chill values of -40 to -45 will persist over the Manitoba Interlake and areas east tonight. Wind chills will moderate on Sunday morning.

For the eastern Red River Valley towards the Ontario border, extreme wind chill values near -40 will develop this evening before improving overnight into Sunday morning as cloud cover increases across the province. Extreme cold puts everyone at risk. Cover up. Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill.

If it's too cold for you to stay outside, it's too cold for your pet to stay outside.

Extreme cold warnings are issued when very cold temperatures or wind chill creates an elevated risk to health such as frost bite and hypothermia.
